Services at St Clement's

Sunday Sung Mass

Our principal service is a Sung Mass each Sunday. The liturgy is based on the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. The language is traditional, the preaching sound, and the ceremonial catholic. The Ordinary of the Mass is typically sung to Merbecke, and music in the service is supported by our wonderful choir. The service lasts about an hour and concludes with the Angelus, which is followed by conversation, coffee and tea.

The feel of the service is traditional and visitors often say that it takes them back to earlier memories of church. The liturgy attempts deliberately to be different from our experience of daily life; recognising that we are all in need of forgiveness. Through penitence and encounter with Our Lord in the liturgy, we experience holiness and are  equipped to go out and live our lives transformed by His grace.

We hold a short, spoken service of BCP Matins (‘Morning Prayer’), daily at 12.00 noon
